1901 Mary Hoyer born October 21st to Daniel and Sallie Sensenig.  
1903 Lived with her parents and siblings in Mohnton, PA.  
1906 Family moved to Reading, PA.

  1914 Mary Hoyer attended girl’s high school in Reading, PA.  
  1920s    
  1926 Mary Sensenig Married William Hoyer at the age of 25. Honeymooned in Niagra Falls.  
  1927 Daughter Arlene born.  
1930s ski doll 1930s    
1931 Opened a retail yarn shop at 124 N 9th St.  
1932 Mary Hoyer designed a hat book for Ber-Mel yarns of Philadelphia.  
  Opened The Mary Hoyer Shop at 1008 Penn St.  
1933 Designed crochet dresses for Spool Cotton Co., NY.  
1936 Children’s Book #1–Knitted and Crocheted garments.  
1937 William formed a publishing Co. "Juvenile Styles."  
1938 Children’s Book #2–Coat and hat with matching dolly design.  
  First doll purchased from Ideal Toy Co.  
  Bernard Lipfert sculpts the original Mary Hoyer Doll manufactured in composition.  
1939 Children’s Book #3–Containing 32 knit and crochet patterns.  
  Designed Mary Hoyer Doll.
In the same year, William opened the mail-order business. He advertises in McCall Art and Needlework magazines. Dolls, accessories, yarn, and books.

So popular, 11 printings.

1945 Opened a shop in Ocean City, NJ at 1106 Boardwalk. Sold gifts, china, and yarn.  
1946 Introduced the 18" doll.  
  Composition dolls discontinued.  
  Children’s Book #10.  
1947 Children’s Book #11–At this time designed two patterns for McCalls: four complete costumes each.  
    Moved shop to 714 Boardwalk, Ocean City, NJ.

1953 Children’s Book #15–By this time we were shipping dolls all over the country.  
1955 "Fairyland"©–words and music by Mary Hoyer.  
1956 "I am a Mary Hoyer Doll"©–words and music by Mary Hoyer.  
1960s doll 1960s    
1960 Last year on Ocean City Boardwalk. Hard plastic doll discontinued. Replaced by unmarked doll with rooted hair–Becky Doll.  
1968 Becky Doll discontinued.  
  Daughter Arlene transforms the Mary Hoyer Shop on Penn St., PA into a designer lady’s apparel shop.  
  1970s    
  1972 William and Mary Hoyer retired and moved to Sarasota, Florida. Mary Hoyer enjoyed painting in oils and watercolor.  
1980s    
1982 Hobby House Press published the hard cover book Mary Hoyer and Her Dolls. Published as a historical review of her life and the doll company. Edited by Virginia Heyerdahl.  
1986 Hobby House Press published the soft cover book Mary Hoyer and Her Dolls.  
1988 Hobby House Press published the soft cover Storybook and Heavenly Doll Costumes. A compilation of costumes designed for Doll Reader Magazine by Mary Hoyer.  
  William Hoyer passed away.  
1989 Mary Hoyer cover story in Doll World.  
  1990s    
1990 Mary Lynne published Doll with the Magic Wand written in 1956 by Mary Hoyer and reopened the doll company to continue the family tradition. Mary Hoyer designed a new series of costumes for this collection.  
1992 Mary Hoyer received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Doll Academy and Doll Reader Magazine.  
1993 Cover story in Doll Collectors other stories in newspapers and Berk’s County Historical Review.
Show at the Berk’s Historical Society.
 
1995 New Mary Hoyer Play Dolls released.  
1998 Mary returns to Reading to be with her family.  
  2000s    
  2000 New doll line plans introduced during sixth annual luncheon.  
  2001 New annual doll line introduced featuring a Classic Collection and a Museum Collection.  
    Mary celebrates her 100th birthday on October 21.
